I googled my Mom's email address and found her posts here. I just wanted to stop by and say hello myself. Anyone here remember Dixie Simmons? It's been more than 11 years since she last posted. It was a nice surprise to see some of the things she'd posted still out on the internet - and a wake up call to the pain she denied having.

I was diagnosed with demyelinating disease two years ago, but have no lasting symptoms at this stage.

I hope the best for you all.

Hello Trish,

Yes, I remember Dixie. A flame war has left this group pretty much
dead. I check in only occasionally.

Good luck to you,
Craig

Hi Trish,
Most of this group have vammoosed from this site some time ago, with
good reason(s). I remember the name Dixie Simmons posting here about the
year 2000, and before. Hope your own health is OK.

While demyelinating disease is usually multiple sclerosis there are
some other causes. One is B12 deficiency. Have you investigated that?

Sorry to hear about the group. Seems there are always a few, wherever you go.

Thanks for the kind words.

I have been tested for multiple issues and the final dx was: either benign MS or Lyme disease. I changed my diet to exclude as many chemicals, preservatives and processed foods as possible as soon as the symptoms began and each repeated symptom had lesser effects. I also gave priority to those foods that had anti-inflammatory properties, and high antibiotic properties to boost my system and make it as healthy as possible. As an awesome side effect, my life-long pollen allergies have all but disappeared.

My reaction was in direct opposition to how my mom dealt with the MS, as she tried everything available to her, including bee venom therapy and low dose chemo. The end result for her was multiple myeloma and no immune system to fight a minor infection. I have to wonder if a full diet change could have made a difference for her. I'll never know.

Anyway, sorry for the soapbox. And thanks again for the kind responses.

I'm sad this group has pretty much gone. I, too, believe this was the group that my mom posted to for years. I think she had stopped posting in the early 2000s.

Her name here was jan g.

She died in 2011 from her m.s.

I was always meaning to come back to this group and pass on the news... this is just the first I've gotten around to it. I actually stumbled upon it trying to find a group for myself. I can't seem to find a support group for people who have lost someone to m.s.

I hope someone sees this. :-/

That was probably when most of the members in this group had any integrity.
The group had turned into a bunch of egotistical dimwits who ultimately abandoned everyone else.
There are much better supportive groups, you just need to look for them. They're out there.
Good luck.
